The 5th International Marrakech Air Show: Press conference

Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco will hold the 5th International Marrakech Air Show (IMAS), from 27th to the 30th of April 2016.

“The 5th International Marrakech Air Show, as a platform of the world aeronautical industry, will be an outstanding showcase of all the advances made in aviation industry and civil aviation”, stated Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy at the press conference organised on 22 February 2016 in Casablanca to present this international exhibition.

The event, hosting 150 exhibitors, 50 delegations and 30,000 visitors, will examine the role of universities in training young people for the aerospace business. It will also highlight Morocco’s recent achievements in the aviation industry and enable national and foreign players to better anticipate the sector's future, as it is currently experiencing a new development structure, driven by the implementation of efficient ecosystems.

The 2014-2020 Industrial Acceleration Plan, launched in April 2014, under the effective presidency of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has indeed started a growth dynamics in the aerospace field, with the rapid development of integrated sectors and new high added value and high technology trades. The Plan aims to launch the second phase of the sector’s development with the objective of creating, by 2020, about 35,000 new jobs, achieving a rate of 35% for integration of local qualified workers and doubling the number of investors.

The show will be organised at the military base in Marrakech by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, The Ministry of Equipment, Transport and Logistics, Moroccan Aerospace Industries Association, Moroccan Airport Authority and Royal Air Maroc.
