Daher opens its third Moroccan factory in Tangier

The Daher Group opened its third Moroccan factory in Tangier on 6 February 2018 in the presence of Mr Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy, Mr Didier Kayat, CEO of Daher, and Mr Patrick Daher, Chairman of the Group. The aircraft manufacturer, equipment supplier and service provider thus strengthens its position in Morocco following the opening of two first sites, in Tangier in 2001 and in Casablanca in 2007.

The new plant is located 500 metres from the first one, in the Tangier Free Zone. It will support the ramp-up in production for international aerospace programs partnered by Daher and provide a platform to better meet the needs of customers (Airbus Commercial Aircraft, Airbus Helicopters and Dassault, …).

On this occasion, Mr Elalamy stated “this third factory for Daher Group contributes to the expansion of the Moroccan aeronautical base and the diversification of trades ranges in the sector. The renewed choice of Morocco as a destination attests to its undeniable attractiveness and its strong competitiveness”.

The site represents an investment of more than €15 million as part of Daher’s on-going development in Morocco, where the aerospace ecosystem is rapidly expanding. It spans around 10,000 m2, giving Daher a total of 30,000 m2 of production facilities in the country. The new plant will eventually employ more than 250 people, adding to the 550-strong workforce at the other two sites.

“Training, job quality, strict compliance with relevant process and production standards, geographic proximity and overheads were all deciding factors in choosing to expand our industrial footprint in Morocco. Our business development policy also provides support for our employees in the country, who benefit from a program to build skills and provide training in Daher quality and safety.” stressed Didier Kayat, CEO of Daher.

Production at the new Tangier plant began in Q3 2017 and covers Daher’s full range of aerospace expertise in metal and composite structures and parts for the aircraft engine environment.
