Missions

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is responsible for the conception and implementation of government policy in the areas of industry, commerce and new technologies except where these are assigned to other ministerial departments by laws or regulations in force.

 

As such the Ministry has the following responsibilities:

 

Design the strategies for developing the sectors of industry, commerce, new technologies and the post office, and their translation into operational programs ;
 
Validate the strategies for developing investment and enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs, as well as their conversion into operational programs ;
 
Direct and implement the development strategies for the sectors of industry, commerce, new technologies and the post office;
 
Contribute to the management of relations with national and international institutions and organizations in the sectors of industry, commerce and new technology;
 
Conduct studies and produce statistics in industry, commerce and new technologies;
 
Provide strategic intelligence, monitoring and evaluation of strategies for industry, commerce and new technologies;
 
Promote and develop innovation in the fields of industry and new technologies;
 
Develop and coordinate reception spaces for industry, commerce and technology, as well as competitive hubs;
 
Contribute to the definition of training plans in industry, commerce and new technologies, and take part in monitoring their implementation;
 
Define the legislative and organizational framework for industry, commerce and new technologies;
 
Make proposals for the regulation of industry, commerce and new technologies;
 
Regulate the postal sector;
 
Develop partnerships, coordinate and implement cooperation programmes;
 
Promote quality and safety in industry, commerce and new technologies;
 
Ensure control in the domains of metrology, certification, quality, safety in the enterprise, surveillance of the market and consumer protection;
 
Ensure communications in industry, commerce and new technologies.
